AMEN. Aperture 3 is an unusable wreck. And it wasn't just the 10.6.4 update. It wasn't even close to being ready for prime-time when it was released. Any image over 10MP results in app-crashing beach balls when using the rotate tool (almost 100% of the time), even on the newest MBP. Over 10MP in RAW...forget it altogether in my experience.
Try Lightroom 3
Amazing stuff :)

Very well executed gif creation, but not particularly exciting.

I do a bit in recruitment and we use a CV parser to extract raw text from CVs, which then gets saved into a database. While our system will handle PDF without a great deal of issue, it much prefers Word and will extract more reliably.
That's exactly the problem. Many companies/recruiters... are forcing you to submit via their web portal and the parsers they use to get the data in the database can't read my PDF. (I've had trouble with them even reading my DOCX, but DOC generally works fine. So I have to keep it in DOCX/DOC/PDF and TXT). I originally started with it in Pages, and it looked better, but I had to export to one of these formats for submission eliminating any reason to use Pages.
Anyhow, following on your suggestion, I borrowed a sample resume from here: http://www.freeresumesamples.org/samples/engineer/electricalengineer.asp and followed the same process to generate a PDF from it by copying and pasting the info into my CV and removing my info. I didn't spend any time tweaking it. Just the info and process. PDF is attached.
Almost got ghostscript loaded on my MBP and will try the filter later.

My understanding is that the iPhone doesn't save contacts to the SIM card but to the iPhone itself. If your son has had iTunes sync his contacts with the computer to something like Microsoft Outlook then you could just have iTunes restore the 3gs and select restore from backup and use his backup from the 3g.
Edit: Sorry if that is hard to understand, I'm only working on 4 hrs of sleep in the past 2 days....

Very nice, but I can't help but think that the ion engine looks a lot like a piece of the "Aurora Chair" from Farscape.
I keep thinking "Mac Rumors One Mill-aurorachair Posts."

The Sketch-a-Search app is very good. smart intuitive UI, someone in Yahoo is finally thinking outside of the (search) box.
but one thing that really stuck out was that it was using maps provided by Google. Really yahoo?

 You noticed that, too?

Anyway, maybe there should be a "wacky E Bay auctions" thread on here.
You could have done that by posting this in your first thread (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=149523) ;)
To make a URL just do:
Display text (http://www.URLgoesHERE.com)

I would say keep it as those who expect a response know they won't be getting one for awhile. Members just need to be trained to stop gossiping and speculating on forum discipline but granted that is not as easy as it sounds.

I dont know if anyones already seen this or not, but its certainly the first time I have.
Sony have released the GRX516SP VAIO Notebook, complete with built in DVD-R drive!
So this mean the drives are now down at a scale where they can be squeezed into a notebook form factor, in which case maybe seeing a SuperDrive in the next rev of the TiBooks isnt to unrealistic.

I am having some issues streaming music through AirPlay to my AirPort Express. We have a first run AirPort Express (circa 2004) and it has never been anything short of impressive. Plug it in, it works.
Last night, we tried hooking it up and communicating with it. No dice. It was reset, though now, I realize that there are several types of resets (soft, hard, factory) and I am not certain which the hubby did. The end result was being able to connect to the AirPort Express' network but not to sign on with AirPlay. AirPlay recognizes it as an option but dulls it out for selection and has a picture of a satellite dish with a lock on it. The AirPort Express cycles through blinking amber and green. I've never had *any* issues, so I am stumped.

I finally got the iBook in my hands... and here's what I did.
I first ran the hardware test.. and everything passed.
Then I planned on backing up everything to a firewire drive (just in case)
and then doing an archive and install...
Unfortunately, I couldn't copy his iTunes folder to the drive. In fact, everytime I looked inside that folder I get a perm. beachball- frozen.. and I couldn't force quit.
I tried making an archive of the folder.... no go.
I tried copying it from terminal... no go.
I saw that when it tries to copy that it hangs on 1 file... so I searched for it in finder and it froze the machine.
I then deleted the file from within iTunes.. but it still froze the computer when I looked in the iTunes folder.
So, I figured that I could use iPodRip to recover his tunes from his iPod... so I did the archive and reinstall anyway.
Before running it.. I ran repair permissions and repair disk from the install CD.
It reinstalled successfully- and the computer booted up ok..with his settings intact.

I called a little while ago and they told me they would be closing up at around 3p. They also told me that they would be equipped to "accommodate" a line.
When I asked for availability, I was told that they would have "plenty" to last through the weekend. Sounds very promising.
I have the day off, so I'm thinking I'll swing by noon to 1ish and check it out. If there's no big line then I'll just get there at around 3 330ish to be safe.
When are you thinking?
(32GB White iPad 3G ftw!)
