3) Most MacOS X programs do not fully exit when you close them, which allows them to "re-open" much faster.
the old argument where pc users say that it's stupid for the application to stay open is weird.
I find on a PC when there are half a dozen IE windows open (no tabs) you close windows with the X or ctrl - w, the app stays open until the last window, so straight away there is inconsistency. You have to keep track of how many or at least leave one open if you don't want to quit. (perhaps a poor example if you think how embedded ie is. eek)
If you want to quit, you have to choose quit or close all windows. Why not just use quit for quit and close window for closing app windows.
So I think the switch is not learning, so much as unlearning. :)

I'm not saying that your post really deserves a response, but c'mon...what do you expect? You downloaded and installed Kazaa, which is known for being spyware and adware infested and then you get (oh my!) adware and spyware. Not that surprising if you ask me.
With that said, just follow the directions that the last guy posted and you will get rid of it. There are versions of both Kazaa and limewire that come with or without adware and spyware, so just make sure that you are getting the good version (it might take some time to look for them.) Hope this helps!
While like I said *I* did NOT install it, it was my brother. But, I know better, then to install any kind of P2P on a PC, I have limewire on my Mac, but that is because it is safe,
Here is what the Kazza site said:
"If you want to use Kazaa but don't want to view ads you can purchase Kazaa Plus, the ad-free version..." (its not cheap) so this is suppose to happen with a million popups and slowed system they claim know Spyware, etc, my *(bad word goes here)* I have never seen a computer so slow of junked up. its horrible.
I will be (if I even can) be downloading the software, but I need to find out how to delete that BS

I just switched from PC to Mac. I received a Base Station Snow Second Hand and the Password is unknown. Is there a way to reset it on the Base Station itself, or is there a way to reconfigure it using my Setup Assistant under Utilities?
Thanks.

I'm pretty sure the older airport base station has the same paperclip hole in the bottom.... I think that's the answer.
Thanks.

Yes it's possible with Pixelmator.
Online you'll find tutorials, probably for Photoshop, but Pixelmator will have the tools you need.
Essentially, you need to either - select what you want to keep, copy, and paste onto new background, or, paint a 'mask' over the picture to make invisible (transparent) what you don't want, and place a layer with the new desired background underneath so it shows through.

I don't think he was trying to sound like a jerk, its just that you didn't answer the question...
People really do this these days, he was just trying to clarify... Nothing to take offense about.

If they still offered the Black Model I would have probably still picked up the white model.
Honestly, i wish they made the MacBook and MacBook Pro 13" the same again. When I bought mine I didnt think $200 was worth going to the 13" MBP just for the Ai design, and SD slot.

I wouldn't recommend a pan type head for landscape photography either. Maybe it was because I only used cheap quality pan heads (the ones they put on junk tripods) but a good quality ballhead is far superior to that. Once the tension is set properly, you can simply grab the camera, adjust it on the ballhead to whatever arbitrary orientation you want, and when you let go it stays in place. No muss, no fuss, no messing with locking down 3 separate axis levers, etc. Just put the camera where you want it and it stays, period.
A pan head is most useful in video applications because you can easily pan one axis independently and smoothly, with a ballhead the panning motion won't be quite as smooth.

The important thing is not which way the OP decides to go... but that whichever way they decide it's for a reason, not just because a picture on website looks good, or the clerk on the store wanted to clear out the last of the inventory. It's why I like this forum. Lots of people approach the same problems from different angles, and if one reads the thread you get to see all sides and then make up your own mind.
In my case I started using the 3 way head with my 4x5. The ball-head type just doesn't work well with LF. Ever since then I've always preferred the 3-ways.
Sometimes I think that photographers can be some of the most conservative people (at least as far as their profession goes) I know. I'm one of them, often! :)

I've been using iChat A/V since it's release and it's been working beautifully. I've even got an iSight and have been chatting no problem w/ it. Just the other day I started up iChat turned on my iSight tried to view myself by clicking the video camera by name and iSight unexpectedly quit. I tried and again and the same thing. I tried having my friend invite me to a video chat...as soon as I accept it quits. I tried inviting someone....same thing. I tried just doing audio....same thing. I tried throwing out all iChat files and reinstalling. SAME THING. Anyone else have this problem or a suggestion on how to fix?

I am having trouble using the photos uploaded to IPhoto. For some reason, when I try to upload these to Shutterfly or Snapfish, they are telling me the file is too small to even print as a 4X6......
When you export from iPhoto you can select the desired resolution. Have you set it yourself or are you letting it default? I suspect the latter.

and would be sad if apple finally did discontinue it at this sept ipod update. I have a first generation classic and I still use it everyday unlike my touch or my droid x as music devices. I've always loved how it can hold almost my entire library rather than pick and choose like i have too with the other two devices... anyone else still in love with the classic?

when 'Vista' was out, they were awesome, funny, and relevant.
vista went away (thank you (deity of choice)), and now they would not work. can's wait to see what they come up with next.
Apple is one of a handful of companies that i actually look forward to advertising from.

If it is any consolation to those who don't have an Apple store, I live in Melbourne where we have two (and an other one coming soon?) and I've never been there.
There are Apple specialists all over the place - they're just as good, just no fancy interiors.

What computer do you have? Do you have an express card slot?
If you do you can get an eSATA adapter.
SATA is not bus powered though.
Thanks for the kindhearted correction.
No problem. Trying my best to be an arse sometimes. ;)

Music fanatics seem to love the classic above all other iPods and there seems to be a cult following of the device.
It has always been my favorite iPod, I just wish apple would act like it exists and give it a few updates...like a slightly larger screen (3"), radio, etc.
I don't think that would kill the "Classic" name by throwing in a few updates it still has the click wheel and that alone would fit the classic name now that there is no other iPod holding the click wheel.
I'm just hoping for a secret 220GB update or a 220GB update this year with the iPod updates in Sept/Oct.
Its interesting to see that amazon no longer stocks the classics and it is still in the top 30 @ $300 for a new one.
I think apple SEVERELY underplays the selling of the classic, the fact is the iPod touch brings in more revenue for them (app store) so of course they are going to try to get people off the classic. I've always seen it in the Top 10 ABOVE the nano and shuffle on Amazon when they were stocking them.
I have a brand new 160GB that is sitting in its case when my 120GB dies on me..which has taken a beating (dent in the side of it, been dropped on concrete at least 3 or 4 times at work) and is still ticking.
Also have a 5.5G 240GB (swapped hard drives) that is used strictly to display videos on my TV.

No. For a couple of reasons at least:
1) A late 09 anything does not understand Thunderbolt
2) Unless specifically advertised just having a Thunderbolt port does not imply that the device has the controller circuitry to act as a "hub" for all the other ports in it: if you hook together two Thunderbolt capable MBPs they don't see each others ports for example.
but if i hook up an ACD with minidisplayport it does recognise the USB ports... right? so does it also recognise USB ports on my imac? when i use it as a screen?
im not going all on thunderbolt i was just implying that that would be what i use. i know the imac only has minidisplay.
